This Week:🌸 Japan’s blossoms, 🌿 Costa Rica jungles, and this week’s top travel picks

Inside: A heads-up on REAL ID + the new $45 TSA ConfirmID fee, two immersive destination deep dives, and five hand-picked travel plays worth your attention.

Hello Wayfarers—

This week’s note is equal parts inspiration and airport reality check. I’ve got two destinations that hit like a reset button (Japan in peak blossom season and Costa Rica deep in the green), plus a quick “don’t get caught at the checkpoint” heads-up you’ll be glad you saw before your next flight.

And yes—there are curated deals on deck. If one fits your window, don’t overthink it. Reach out to us and I’ll help you lock the right version (dates, cabin, resort style, itinerary—the details that actually decide whether a trip feels “fine” or feels unforgettable). ✨

🛫 The Pre‑Flight Briefing

Here’s your runway lineup—what to know, what to watch, and what’s worth daydreaming about.

Heads Up: REAL ID + TSA ConfirmID ($45) — started Feb 1, 2026
If you fly domestically, this is the kind of detail that can quietly wreck a travel day.
💳 BREAKING NEWS:  As of Feb 1:  TSA has a new ConfirmID fee  - $45 for travelers who show up without a REAL ID and need additional identity verification to fly.
⏳ It’s not just the fee—it’s the extra process, extra time, and extra friction at the airport. On a holiday weekend? That’s a gamble.
📅 REAL ID enforcement deadline: May 7, 2027. After that, you’ll need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable ID to clear domestic airport security.
How to check fast: look for the star on the upper portion of your driver’s license. No star? Start the update process sooner rather than later.

Royal Caribbean savings
This week’s Royal Caribbean promo is strong if you match the right sailing to the right traveler. Families, friend groups, and value-hunters—this is the lane. If you tell me dates + departure port, I’ll tell you what’s actually worth booking.

Japan + Costa Rica are calling
🌸 Japan in cherry blossom season is beauty with meaning—short window, big emotion, unforgettable atmosphere.
🌿 Costa Rica is the opposite kind of luxury: the “nature does the heavy lifting” kind. You come back with your shoulders lower and your brain quieter.

Got a destination in mind or not even sure where to start? Reach out and let’s find a time to chat about your next adventure.

🌊 The Deep Dive

Japan (Cherry Blossom Season) — calm, electric, and impossibly beautiful

Traditional Kyoto street with cherry blossoms in bloom, warm lantern light, and classic wooden architecture

Japan during sakura season doesn’t just look pretty—it feels like the entire country is leaning into a shared moment. In Kyoto, the day can begin in that cool, early hush—temple bells in the distance, the faint scent of incense, and petals scattered like confetti along stone paths that have been walked for centuries. You drift from shrine courtyards to quiet gardens where the light filters through blossoms like a soft spotlight, then stumble into a tiny spot for matcha or a perfect bite that tastes like it has a story behind it. And then Tokyo snaps you into the present: neon reflections on wet sidewalks, the thrum of late-night neighborhoods, sushi counters and side streets where the city feels endless in the best way. The magic is the contrast—old-world stillness and modern electricity—wrapped in a season that’s brief enough to feel rare. You don’t go to “see blossoms.” You go to feel the beauty, the rhythm, the intention—then come home with that quiet thought: I’m glad I didn’t keep putting that off.

Costa Rica (Nature Reset) — where your body finally exhales

Lush Costa Rica rainforest waterfall with dense tropical greenery and a clear pool below

Costa Rica is what happens when your nervous system gets a vacation, too. The rainforest greets you with sound first—birds calling overhead, leaves shifting in the canopy, water moving somewhere nearby like it’s narrating your day. Everything is saturated: greens you didn’t know existed, bright flashes of wings, a sudden stillness when you spot a sloth curled up high in the trees like it’s the mayor of the jungle. You’ll hear howler monkeys in the distance, catch toucans if you’re lucky, and feel that grounded calm that comes from being outside for real—not just “walking around,” but being surrounded. Then the reward: hot springs that melt the day out of your shoulders, steam rising into cool air, that delicious moment when your mind stops sprinting. Costa Rica isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about coming back lighter—like you remembered how to breathe again.

ADVISOR’S EDGE #1: The Timing Play

🗓️ The Window: Cherry blossoms usually peak late March/early April; Costa Rica's "Green Season" (May-Nov) offers the best value and fewest crowds.
📉 The Nuance: Japan’s peak season is crowded and pricey; booking the "shoulder" keeps the vibe without the premium. In Costa Rica, the morning sun is reliable even in the rainy season—plan your big adventures before 2 PM.
🎯 The Strategy: Book Japan 10-12 months out. For Costa Rica, focus on the Guanacaste region for more sun during the green months.

🧳 Caught in the Carry‑On (Tosh’s Take)

Here’s the travel hack I wish more people used: Book the trip around the experience—not the destination headline.
Two travelers can go to the “same place” and have completely different trips based on three things:
🚶‍♂️ Pace (Are we moving every day, or savoring?)
📍 Location (Are we where the magic actually is, or a 45-minute commute away?)
🛌 Room/Cabin category (For comfort, quiet, and convenience)

If you want the smartest version of your trip, reach out with: your travel window, who’s going, your “must-have,” and your “absolutely not.” I’ll build you two or three options that make sense.

ADVISOR’S EDGE #2: The Money Move

💴 The Reality: Japan remains surprisingly cash-heavy in smaller towns; Costa Rica is card-friendly but "Colones" are better for local eateries.
💳 The Move: Always carry some local currency - appox $100 USD worth should last a while.  Use a card with no foreign transaction fees for big spends.  When travelling internationally in any country, always do all transactions in local currency if possible.  If a credit card machine or ATM offers to "convert to USD" for you - DON'T DO IT to avoid the "tourist exchange rate" (a total ripoff that usually adds 5-10%).   Choose "local currency" instead.
